Minecraft is engrossing. Minecraft rewards creativity in the best ways. When playing minecraft you have a sense of living through a unfriendly world. You end up not only surviving, but doing well and crafting works of art. Minecraft possesses an uncommon type of hidden level hierarchy that can make you feel accomplished. The more you gather the more resources you possess and therefore the more complex your creations.
The game's in beta and still isn't perfect yet. As of right now, there's really no plot which can really make things boring. And because there aren't Non-Player Characters it can get very lame and make it apparent how bleak the world is. Your feel of adventure in this grand and limitless world dies when surroundings starts to look repetitive.
Playing on Minecraft servers do, however, cure most of these ailments. Goals are invented by other gamers. Online gamers are a great source of infinite content. You'll now have people to show off your art to, and the encompassing area would be more interesting because it's entirely user created. You can come across unique cities, sculptures, and terraformed land in your exploration.But there are gigantic drawbacks with finding an online server that's choice for you. You maybe want player vs player, you might want a more creative world to build in. You maybe need a RPG server, you maybe need to play in an anarchy with zero rules or you maybe want civilization. If the rules aren't tough enough you can wind up with unneeded griefers, murderers, and thieves. If the rules are too strict you might feel a loss of control, the inability to play where you want, and it's only a fun time for those in control.
There are numerous server directories out there but most aren't good enough, and don't meet my needs. There's a lot of 'vote' spamming, which turns the entire directory into a popularity contest with no info on if a server's perfect for YOU. I was looking in a server website recently which used the exact same description for each of their posts so they can arrive at number one on search engines quickly by having many low quality posts. A lot more of these websites are biased, giving praise to only those IPs who are willing to pay with no recognition to all else. Decide on your server carefully, make sure it upholds all of your wishes, or else you'll be forever cursed to server-hop, over time getting agonized and leaving the awesome playtime that multiplayer can bring you.
